Nicaragua is known to be the second poorest country in our Western Hemisphere next to Haiti, that has not improved at all especially with their newly acquired dictator. About more than 80% of the country is in dire poverty with scarcity of jobs and a good education. Our work is in a small remote community up the river from Bluefields called Haulover. From the main city of Bluefields there’s a 30 – 45 minutes’ ride in a speedboat to this remote community. The greatest needs are education and medicine with education on good nutrition and decease preventions. Most of the deaths in this community are infants and or deaths from just common sickness that can be prevented.
